The Whales have arrived

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Every year we welcome the beautiful humpback whales to Hervey Bay.  It truly is the best place on the East Coast to see the whales up close rather then trying to spot one swimming passed in the distance.

Why is Hervey Bay different for seeing the whales?  It's a sheltered bay (thanks to Fraser Island) and the whales like to stop and rest on their long journey north and south - especially the babies.  You will often see Mother whales and their calves, and sometimes small family pods.

They come to visit us every year at the end of July and are around until the end of October.

If you haven't see one of these magnificent creatures, it is well worth the visit.  Check out our great whale watching package which we offer in partnership with Freedom Whale Watching.
